Local beer starts with local ingredients.
We use organic cascade hops grown on-site at the brewery and down the road at Goats Peak Farm and Vineyard.
Growers Dave and Luke Lepine led the planting of over 1000 Cascade, Nugget, and Chinook hop plants in 2013 and 2014. The vines will produce one to two pounds of hops on the third year of growth. These perennial plants are hardy and have not been sprayed with pesticides or herbicides.
Of course, the harsh New England winters prevent us from using local hops year-round. We also source hops from Oregon, Washington, Germany (Hallertauer Mittelfrüh), and the Czech Republic (Saaz), to keep us brewing no matter how cold it gets.
